HARRISONBURG, Va. – Isabella Peterson led 16th-ranked James Madison over Vanderbilt 17-8 on Saturday afternoon at Sentara Park.
James Madison (11-4, 4-1) had seven goal scorers led by Peterson who registered a first-quarter hat trick and won a game-high tying nine draw controls. Katelyn Morgan posted a game-high eight points off two goals and six assists. Maddie Epkie registered nine draw controls. Kacey Knobloch also added three goals and two assists for the Dukes. Taylor Marchetti and Lizzy Pirisino caused a combined eight Commodore turnovers.
Vanderbilt (8-7, 2-3) was led by Kemper Robinson and Josie Ward who each added two goals for the Commodores. Ella Smith dished three assists, all three coming on straight possessions to close the first half and picked up a game-high five ground balls. Smith broke Vandy’s scoring drought, tallying her lone goal in the fourth quarter.
Brooke Baker, Molly Finlay and Cate Bradley each found the back once. Paige Gunning posted a season-high 17 saves in cage, the most since posting her career-high at Florida on May 7, 2022.
Vandy will return home for the regular season finale on Saturday as they host Cincinnati on Senior Day. First draw will be at noon and air on ESPN+.
