STANFORD, Calif – Three Stanford players tallied a hat trick as the Cardinal topped Vanderbilt 18-5 on Saturday night at Cagan Stadium.
Cardinal goalie Lucy Pearson registered seven saves in the game and Annabel Frist tallied a game-high seven draw controls.
Stanford (2-2) opened the game with a goal within the opening three minutes. Vanderbilt (2-1) responded with a goal from Molly Krestinski but the Cardinal would go on to score six unanswered goals to lead 10-3 at the break.
Krestinski had her first hat trick as a Commodore with three first-half goals for Vandy. Brooke Baker added one goal for the Dores off a free position in the fourth followed by Logan Risenhoover scoring on the next Vanderbilt possession. Senior Taylor Sampone grabbed a career-best six ground balls and game high tying three caused turnovers.
Vanderbilt returns to Music City on Saturday for a noon opening draw against Kennesaw State. The game will be shown on ESPN+.
