PHILADELPHIA – Vanderbilt dropped its conference opener to Temple, 20-9, on Saturday at Howarth Field.
The Commodores took a 4-3 lead with 2:11 to go in the first quarter before the Owls rattled off four straight goals to go up 7-4 with 12:17 left in the second quarter.
Vandy cut Temple’s lead to two in the third quarter but that would be as close as it would get in the second half.
The Owls outscored Vanderbilt 11-2 over the final 27 minutes of the game to win 20-9 and snap Vanderbilt’s four-game win streak.
Karlie Bucci recorded a hat trick for the second consecutive game and Gabby Fornia totaled five points on four assists and a goal. Fornia has recorded four or more points in six consecutive games for the Dores.
Vanderbilt will visit Louisville on Tuesday for the season’s final nonconference contest. First draw is set for 11 a.m. CT.
