TAMPA, Fla. – South Florida featured 10 goal scorers as the Bulls downed Vanderbilt with a 17-7 score on Saturday afternoon at Corbett Stadium.
South Florida (9-2, 3-0 AAC) came out strong, scoring seven goals in the first 10 minutes. Jaime Biskup ended the drought for Vanderbilt (5-7, 1-2 AAC), registering her 30th goal of the year to finish the opening quarter. Nancy Halleron found the back of the net for the Dores early in the second, but the Bulls maintained their momentum with back-to-back scores to restore their seven-goal lead. Brooke Baker took her defender one-on-one, bringing the halftime score to 9-3. The Bulls outscored the Commodores 8-4 in the second half.
Vandy had six scorers on the day, led by Halleron’s seventh consecutive game with multiple goals. Baker contributed a goal, an assist, three ground balls, and one caused turnover for the black and gold. The Commodores scored three consecutive fourth-quarter goals from Kemper Robinson, Molly Finlay, and Shea Panzik. Freshman Kiera Runske recorded a team-high four draw controls.
South Florida outshot Vanderbilt 23-16 as Sofia Chepnick, Ava Uphues and Maggie Newton each registered a hat trick. Chepnick picked up a game-high nine draw controls and added four points off three goals and an assist. Uphues and Newton combined for six goals off nine shots. Juliana George scored twice and dished two assists for four points. In cage, Paige Pagano made nine stops. Kaitlyn Tartaglione helped pace the Bulls with five ground balls, four draw controls, three caused turnovers, two assists and one goal.
Vandy returns to action on Saturday, hosting conference rival Temple. Opening draw is set for 10:30 a.m. and can be seen on ESPN+.
