Molly Krestinski and Bailey Lower pace Commodores

HARRISONBURG, Va. – James Madison used a five-goal third quarter to pull away from Vanderbilt in a 14-9 victory on Saturday afternoon at Sentara Park.

Vanderbilt (8-8, 3-2 American) battled back from an early deficit, tying the game at 6-6 at halftime and taking a 7-6 lead early in the third quarter on a goal from Shea Panzik.

James Madison (10-6, 4-1 American) responded by scoring five straight goals to regain control and build an 11-7 advantage heading into the fourth.

Molly Krestinski and Bailey Lower led the Commodores with three goals each. Krestinski has recorded a hat trick in three of the last four games. Panzik added two goals, while Hayden Miller also scored.

Freshman Gabby Putman recorded five draw controls, marking her fifth straight game with at least five and her eighth such performance this season. She also caused two turnovers, while Alex Gladding added two caused turnovers. Emme Martin made 12 saves in goal.

The Dukes were paced by Olivia Matthews and Jordan Peterson, who each totaled five points, while Maya Antonakas added three goals.

Vanderbilt closes the regular season Saturday, hosting South Florida for Senior Day. Opening draw is set for noon on ESPN+.
