Vanderbilt, the 54-hole SEC stroke play leader, faced off against the ACC leader, Georgia Tech, in an 18-hole, best-of-five match Sunday.

Junior Carson Jacobs, who trailed Georgia Tech’s Drew Czuchry by a hole heading into number 18, made a four on 18, while Czuchry made a five. The dramatic result meant that the Commodores salvaged a tie with the Yellow Jackets, instead of losing 3 & 2.

The Commodores received its two points from senior Ben Fogler, who won his match over James Clark, 5 & 3, and from freshman Theo Humphrey, who claimed his match, 4 & 2, over the Yellow Jackets’ Anders Albertson.

“First of all, this tournament and this golf course were absolutely awesome,” said Vanderbilt head coach Scott Limbaugh. “DICK’s and The Golf Club of Tennessee put on a great event.”

“Today was a good day for our team as we continue to make our climb together. Theo and Ben were really good today and had control of their matches from start to finish. Carson did a great job getting a half in his match so we could tie the match against a good team.”
