GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The No. 20 Vanderbilt lacrosse team suffered a 22-9 loss at No. 9 Florida on Sunday at Donald R. Dizney Stadium in American Athletic Conference play.
The Commodores (11-4, 6-2 AAC) could not overcome the fast start by the high-powered Florida (11-2, 8-0 AAC) offense, which scored the first eight goals of the game.
Bri Gross recorded four goals to pace the offense with Cassidy Orban contributing two on the day.

Vanderbilt’s offense came to life with a goal from Gross with 16:51 left in the first half.
After another Florida goal, the Dores put together a 5-2 run to claw back into the game. Orban scored a pair of goals during the stretch with Gross, Griffin Gearhardt and Elizabeth Scarrone all tallying goals to cut the Gators’ lead down to 11-6 at halftime.

Florida broke the game open by scoring the first nine goals of the second half for a 20-6 advantage. Two more goals from Gross and one from Kate Murphy cut into the lead.
Gross and Orban led the Dores with four draw controls apiece, while Orban also posted a team-high four ground balls.
The Dores will close the regular season with home games versus Temple on Friday and Sunday.
