NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Vanderbilt men’s tennis team fell short in the ITA Ohio Valley Regional doubles quarterfinals and singles Round of 16 on Saturday at the Currey Tennis Center.
In doubles, Commodore pair George Harwell and Max Freeman took on Belmont’s Inno and Illic in the quarterfinals. The pair commanded a strong start but fell short to Inno and Illic, 8-5, concluding their doubles run.
Four Commodores competed in the singles main draw with sophomore George Harwell advancing to the Round of 16.
In the Round of 16, Harwell faced Tennessee’s Widenmann for a spot in the quarterfinals.
Harwell fell short in the first set, 6-2, but bounced back to force a third with a 7-5 victory in the second. In the third set the junior started strong but retired at 5-5 to conclude his run in the tournament.
The Commodores will be back in action as they kick off their spring season against Middle Tennessee State on January 10th in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.
