TULSA, Okla. – Three Vanderbilt men’s tennis student-athletes wrapped up the singles pre-qualifying matches of the ITA All-Americans on Sunday.
Junior Max Freeman faced Wake Forest’s Eduardo Nava in the singles Round of 64 to kick off day two for the Dores. Defeating Nava in straight sets, 6-3, 6-4, the junior picked up his second consecutive victory, marking his place in the Round of 32.
In the third round of singles, sophomore Marcus Ferreira took on Florida State’s Rana Roop Singh Bhullar. Ferreira fell short to Bhullar, 6-4, 6-2, concluding his stint in the ITA All-Americans.
In the Round of 32, Freeman battled against Oklahoma’s Stefano Tsorotiotis for a spot in the Round of 16. Freeman started strong to take the first set, 7-5. Tsorotiotis bounced back to claim the match over Freeman securing the final sets, 6-4, 6-1 to wrap up Freeman’s run in the tournament.
Sophomore Macsen Sisam, junior George Harwell and senior Billy Rowe will begin their runs in the singles qualifying rounds of the ITA All-Americans while Rowe and Freeman kick off their doubles run on Monday looking to advance to the main draw beginning on Wednesday, October 6th.
