'Dores back in action this weekend

Vanderbilt sophomore Ryan Lipman earned at an-large bid to the 2010 USTA/ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships at the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York.

In his first round match, Lipman will face Michigan’s Evan King. King fell in the semifinal round of the Midwest Regional Championships, but earned an at-large big to the National Championships.

While Lipman faces tough competition in New York, the rest of the Vanderbilt tennis team will travel to Tuscaloosa, Ala. this weekend to take part in the Crimson Tide Invitational. The Commodores, playing in their final tournament of the fall season, will join 24 other teams, including SEC opponents Alabama, Auburn, Mississippi State and Tennessee.

Friday’s schedule will feature two rounds of singles and one round of doubles for each player. Two rounds of doubles and round round of singles will be played on Saturday and Sunday. The tournament draws will be available Thursday evening.
