NASHVILLE, Tenn. – An array of family and kids activities are on tap Sunday as Vanderbilt athletics hosts Dore Jam 2008 on campus, an event aimed at getting players on the Commodore football squad in front of fans of the program.

This year, Dore Jam will also feature the unveiling of the first new Commodore football uniforms since Head Coach Bobby Johnson’s first year in 2002. Numerous variations of the Nike uniforms will be shown.

The two-hour event is scheduled Sunday, starting at 4 p.m. It is free of charge to Vanderbilt followers, and is held at the team’s John Rich Practice Facility located just behind McGugin Athletic Center. Free parking is available in Lot 73 off Natchez Trace across from the practice facility and track complex.

Recognized as the team’s official Fan Day activity, Dore Jam has attracted thousands of Commodore followers since its inception six years ago.

Vanderbilt football Head Coach Bobby Johnson and virtually every member of the football team will be in attendance, and available for autographs. The team’s official poster will be distributed without charge.

“I’m looking for the biggest crowd yet,” Johnson said. “I’m sure many Vanderbilt fans will be excited to see the new uniforms. From my standpoint, I’m excited to meet as many Commodore fans as I can and sign as many autographs as time allows. Our players really have a lot of fun with it also.”

Dore Jam offers a great chance for young Commodore fans to meet their favorite Vanderbilt student-athletes, and also try some sporting events, such as running the 40-yard dash and seeing how fast they can throw a baseball. Youngsters can also enjoy an inflatable Bounce House and Giant Slide, and receive special face tattoos.

Soul Incision, a musical group of Vanderbilt employees and physicians, will again provide live entertainment.

Besides the free distribution of team posters and 2008 schedule cards, two authentic Commodore game jerseys from the 2007 season will be given away at the event.

Season tickets for the home schedule that includes Southeastern Conference foes South Carolina, Auburn, Florida and Tennessee can be purchased at the event, starting at $99.

Limited supplies of the 2008 Vanderbilt Football Media Guide also will be available at a cost of $15.
