Nashville, Tenn. – An array of family and kids activities are on tap Sunday as Vanderbilt athletics hosts Dore Jam VI on campus, an event aimed at getting players on the Commodore football squad in front of avid fans of the program.

Dore Jam VI is scheduled Sunday, starting at 4 p.m. The event, free of charge to Vanderbilt faithful, continues until 6 p.m., at the John Rich Practice Complex, located just behind McGugin Athletic Center.

Recognized as the team’s official Fan Day activity, Dore Jam VI offers a great chance for Commodore fans to meet their favorite Vanderbilt student-athletes. Young fans can try their hands at other Commodore varsity sports, including soccer, baseball and track & field, besides getting autographs and talking with favorite Commodore football players.

Vanderbilt football Head Coach Bobby Johnson and virtually every member of the football team will be in attendance, and available for autographs.

Visitors to Dore Jam VI will have plenty of other free entertainment options. Youngsters can enjoy an inflatable Bounce House and Giant Slide, and receive special face tattoos and Commodore hats. This year, the event will also feature live entertainment from Soul Incision, a musical group of Vanderbilt employees and physicians.

Several prize drawings are scheduled. Items will include tickets to the Vanderbilt-Richmond season opener on Sept. 1, and authentic Commodore gear and jerseys worn by Vanderbilt players during the 2006 season. A Commodore team poster featuring the 2007 football schedule will be distributed free to all in attendance. A limited number of hot dogs and soft drinks will be provided without charge.

Fans attending Dore Jam VI can purchase season tickets, the SEC’s least expensive offer. Limited supplies of the 2007 Vanderbilt Football Media Guide also will be available at a cost of $15.

Commodores Conduct Second Preseason Practice Tuesday

Coach Johnson put the Commodores through their second session of preseason camp Tuesday, practicing two hours and 30 minutes at the Rich Practice Facility. The practice was staged under heat advisory conditions, with temperatures reaching triple digits in Nashville just two hours prior practice.

Johnson continued to focus on expanding the offensive and defensive playbooks. The Commodores spent multiple periods working on individual instruction, special teams and passing drills before ending the evening with 30 minutes of 11-on-11 workouts.

Halfway through the NCAA-mandated four-day acclimation period, the Commodores will practice Wednesday and Thursday in partial pads. The team’s first session in full gear is scheduled Friday evening.
