Sedrick Alexander and Jordan White earn weekly SEC awards

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — After helping Vanderbilt football to the first 10-win season in program history Sedrick Alexander and Jordan White were named the SEC Offensive Player and Offensive Lineman of the Week it was announced on Monday.

The pair played key roles in the Commodores’ 45-24 victory at No. 18/18 Tennessee on Saturday, the program’s first over the Volunteers since 2018 and its first in Knoxville since the 2017 season.

Alexander recorded his first career 100-yard game and scored career-high three touchdowns in the contest, finishing with 115 yards on only 10 carries while also recovering a fumble to keep a drive alive two plays before scoring from 28 yards out to tie the game 7-7 late in the opening quarter. The junior from Austin, Texas, put Vandy in front for good with a 5-yard touchdown run midway through the third quarter before sealing the victory with a 39-yard scoring dash with just over five minutes remaining.

It was the first time a Commodore has run for three touchdowns in a game since 2018, with the performance moving Alexander into a tie for third on both the school’s all-time rushing (21) and total (26) touchdown lists.

White posted the Dores’ highest Pro Football Focus overall and run block grades following the victory, and he did not surrender a sack or quarterback hit on 36 pass-block snaps. The graduate transfer, who hails from Largo, Maryland, led a line that helped Vanderbilt rush for 314 yards—the most for the program against an SEC opponent since at least 1996—and total 582 overall while averaging 9.0 yards per play and holding the ball for just under 35 minutes.

It’s the third time this season that White has been named the SEC Offensive Lineman of the Week following a Vandy victory in league play, and the fourth overall that he has been recognized this fall.
