Vanderbilt men's tennis hosts Belmont, Southern Indiana in Saturday doubleheader

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The Vanderbilt men’s tennis team is set to host Belmont and Southern Indiana for a Saturday doubleheader at the Currey Tennis Center.

The Dores return home after a road trip to Durham, North Carolina for ITA Kickoff Weekend. Vandy knocked off Cornell before falling to No. 11 Duke in the championship match. Junior Nathan Cox notched the highest ranked singles win of his career, a 6-2, 4-6, 6-2 result over No. 23 Radu Papoe of Cornell. Cox has played at the No. 1 singles position in all of Vanderbilt’s dual matches thus far, and is one of just two Dores with a ranked singles win this season.

Belmont makes the short trek to Vanderbilt looking to bounce back from a 4-3 loss to North Alabama on Sunday. The Bruins are 0-1 against SEC opponents, as they fell to No. 13 Tennessee 7-0 in their season opener. The Dores own an 11-0 record over their Nashville counterparts, with the closest match in the series a 5-2 Vandy victory in 2020. Southern Indiana remains in Nashville for Saturday’s contest after suffering a 4-0 loss to Lipscomb on Friday. In total, the Screaming Eagles have competed in just two dual matches and played in only three events throughout the fall season. The matchup marks the first time in program history that Vanderbilt and Southern Indiana meet.

Vanderbilt (3-2) faces Belmont (2-2) in the opening match of Saturday’s doubleheader, with play set to begin at 11:30 a.m. The Dores then take on Southern Indiana (0-1) at not before 5 p.m. Live streaming is available online, with live stats accessible here at the beginning of each match.
