Suresh Eswaran and Jeff Offerdahl continued their stellar play at the Southern Intercollegiate Classic in Athens, Ga. on Saturday.
Eswaran defeated Matt Davis from Kentucky, 6-4, 6-4 in the round of 32 before losing in a tiebreaker 6-3, 4-6, 7-6(5) in the quarterfinals to Davidson’s Calum Gee.
Eswaran and teammate Michael Retta teamed up in doubles, winning their round of 32 match by walkover, but dropping their match in the round of 16 8-6 against Winthrop’s Dejon Bivens and Dylan Comerford.
In Saturday’s consolation singles round, Retta defeated Eastern Kentucky’s Emilio Piriz 6-1, 6-2.
Having won in the round of 64 on Friday, Offerdahl went on to defeat Mercer’s Peter Tauchner 6-4, 6-1 and then Juan Pablo Gutierrez of Georgia State, 4-6, 6-4, 6-2, continuing his winning streak as well.
Joe Dorn lost to Virginia Tech’s Hunter Koontz 6-3, 1-6, 6-3.
