The 18-team field will play 36 more holes on the Par 72, 7,010-yard layout over the next two days. At six under par, the University of Florida has a two-stroke lead over Georgia State. Duke stands in third place at even-par, followed by Georgia (+1), Texas Tech (+4), Clemson (+5), East Tennessee State (+7) and Augusta State (+9). Vanderbilt started play on the 10th hole and went out at nine over par. Junior Luke List led the Commodores with a opening round of 75 to end Friday’s play as the only Vanderbilt golfer in the tournament’s top 40. Also scoring for the Commodores were senior Dos Goldsmith (77), and freshmen Tyler Matthews (78) and Jon Curran (80). Sophomore Brett Lange posted an first-day total of 83. The individual tournament lead is held by Chris Kirk of Georgia, who shot a five-under-par 67. Kirk leads three players — Duke’s Clark Klaasen, Clemson’s David May and Florida’s James Vargas — by one stroke. A total of 13 players in the field of 90 carded rounds below 72.
