Czubik Named New Women’s Soccer 7/21/2005 Ronnie Coveleskie Hill, the Vanderbilt Women’s Soccer head coach, announced today that she will have a new helper on the field for the upcoming season. She named former Belmont University star student-athlete Cristin Czubik as her assistant coach. “I am very excited to welcome Cristin to our coaching staff,” Coveleskie Hill said. “She is a very well respected coach with a very bright future in the college game.” Czubik, a four-year player for the Bruins, graduated from Belmont in 2002, however she left her name behind in a couple of the record books. She is BU’s Career Leader in both Points (75) and Assists (31) in only 75 games. She also earned recognition for her performance, being named to the All-Missouri Valley Conference First Team as a junior, and the All-Atlantic Sun Conference First Team her senior year (after Belmont switched conferences). She was also named to the All-Academic Conference teams those two years and was and Academic All-District IV pick in the 2001 season. “I’ve always wanted to play soccer,” Czubik said. “Coaching was a natural change. I’m thrilled to be in a position where I can help student-athletes achieve their goals.” Coveleskie Hill said she chose Czubik after she had helped out during the spring season and at the Vanderbilt Summer Camps. “Cristin has experienced success at all levels of soccer — competing on a Division I program, coaching at the youth level as well as serving as our volunteer assistant last spring,” Coveleskie Hill said. Czubik has some experience on the sidelines coaching various club teams and she spent last year in Baltimore, Md. helping coach Division III Goucher College to a 4-12-1 record. Although Czubik was not in Nashville, she said she has kept an eye on the Vanderbilt Soccer Program ever since she graduated, because she had gotten to know Hill. “The potential for growth for this team is amazing,” Czubik said. Czubik is already hard at work and will go off on her first recruiting trip next week. “I am confident that Cristin will bring our program some new ideas, quality social interaction with the local club soccer community and help our program achieve success in the near future,” Coveleskie Hill said. |
