Current, Former ‘Dores Compete in Challenger

11/9/2005

Nashville — With Vanderbilt’s Brownlee O. Currey Jr. Tennis Center playing host to the USTA’s Music City Challenger, it’s only fitting that host of current and former Commodores participate in the event.

Junior Jordan Magarik (Winchester, Va.) and sophomore Ryan Preston (Northbrook, Ill.) are scheduled to play a doubles match this evening, as one of the last matches to begin play as soon as possible after 6 p.m. The dup will face Zack Fleishman and Travis Rettenmaier in the first round of 16 doubles teams.

Also playing today for the Commodores will be three members of the 2003 National Runner-Up team — Bobby Reynolds, Zach Dailey and Scott Brown. Reynolds, the fourth seed in the 32-man singles event, won his first-round singles match over Glenn Weiner, 6-4, 7-6(3). His match against Michael Russell is set to begin at 5 p.m.

Dailey and Brown are teaming up for the doubles side and will face Russell and his partner Dusan Vemic as soon as possible after 6:30 p.m. today.
