Curran Paces Commodores at Inverness Intercollegiate 9/21/2005 TOLEDO, Ohio – Vanderbilt freshman Jon Curran finished in a tie for 10th place to pace the Commodores as Vanderbilt finished its last day of competition at the Inverness Intercollegiate hosted by the University of Toledo Tuesday at the Inverness Club. The Commodores shot a 314 and finished 14th with a three-day team total of 916. Curran shot a team-best 77 in his final round of his first tournament as a Commodore. He finished 8-over par for the tournament. Junior Luke List finished tied for 26th place after shooting a 79 in the final round. John Ebert (76-76-79–231) tied for 50th place while Dos Goldsmith (77-82-79–238) tied for 65th place and Tyler Matthews (81-85-79–245) was 72nd for the Commodores. Florida (298-295-287–880) captured the tournament title by rallying from 12 strokes down after the second round and were led by medalist Matt Every, who tied the tournament record with an even-par 213 (74-71-68). The Gators edged out second-round leader USC (289-292-302–883) and finished eight strokes ahead of third-place Texas (305-286-297–888). The Inverness Club featured a 7,255-yard, par-71 course. The Club was founded in 1903 and has hosted four U.S. Opens, one U.S. Amateur, one U.S. Senior Open and two PGA Championships. Vanderbilt will next been in action on Sept. 30-Oct. 2 when the Commodores host the Mason Rudolph Intercollegiate at the Vanderbilt Legends Club. School Scores |
