Curran Moves to Second; Commodores Tied for Fifth Heading into Final Round of Mason Rudolph Intercollegiate 10/1/2005 FRANKLIN, Tenn. — Commodore freshman Jon Curran fired a 4-under par 68 Saturday to climb into second place heading into the final round of the Mason Rudolph Intercollegiate scheduled for Sunday at the Vanderbilt Legends Club. Moving to four-under for the tournament, Curran (72+68=140) recorded four birdies and 14 pars during the second round – never shooting over par on any hole. Curran finished the second round strong, carding birdies on both the 17th and 18th holes. His second-round score was one shot off the lowest of the day. Pete Krsnich of Kansas registered a 5-under par 67 after shooting 4-under par on his final nine holes. Curran is two shots behind tournament leader Adam Wynia (70+68=138) of Belmont. As a team, Vanderbilt (297+285=582) remains seven shots off the lead despite shooting 3-under par as a unit. The Commodores are tied with Belmont (292+290=582) and Ole Miss (297+285=582) for fifth place. SMU (294+281=575) moved into the lead after recording a 7-under par, 281 – the best team score of the second round. Vanderbilt juniors Dos Goldsmith and Luke List each shot an even par 72 on Saturday. Goldsmith (71+72=143) enters the final round tied for 10th place, 1-under par for the tournament. List (72+72=144) is tied for 13th position, having shot even par after two rounds. Commodore senior Will Armstrong (82+73=155) improved on his opening round 82 from Friday, shooting a 1-over par 73 on the second day. He is tied for 54th place. Sophomore John Elbert (87+77=164) is tied for 63rd place. Vanderbilt’s Tyler Matthews (75+74=149), playing as an individual, heads into Sunday 5-over par for the tournament after shooting a 2-over 74 on Saturday. He is tied for 31st place. Final-round play starts Saturday at 8 a.m. CT. Vanderbilt will tee off from the 10th hole.
