Cox Eyes All-American Run

Senior will be lone Commodore competing in fall season opener

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Senior Nathan Cox is set to represent Vanderbilt men’s tennis tomorrow at the opening event of the 2025-26 fall season: the ITA All-American Championships hosted by Tulsa.

Cox has reached highs of No. 80 in singles and No. 28 in doubles, both of which came last season. He enters his final year after posting 20 total wins throughout 2024-25, two which were ranked singles victories while adding another five ranked wins in doubles alongside partner Michael Ross. Cox competed primarily within the top three singles spots for Vanderbilt. He will be the lone Commodore playing at All-Americans as other members of the team prepare for the ITF M15 Futures in Ann Arbor, Michigan on Monday.

Saturday marks the start of the prequalifying round, where Cox will face Peter Nad of Notre Dame at 1 p.m. Qualifying begins on Monday with the main draw slated for Wednesday. The singles and doubles finals will be played on Sunday, Sept. 28. Cox has competed at All-Americans in each of his first three seasons, picking up four singles wins in total.

The ITA All-American Championships is a qualifying tournament for the NCAA Singles & Doubles Championships. 10 singles players will qualify for the NCAA Singles Championship, consisting of eight main draw quarterfinalists and two feed-in consolation finalists, while four doubles teams will qualify for the NCAA Doubles Championship. The individual championships will take place November 18-23 at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Florida. The men’s All-American tournament page is available online.
