NASHVILLE – Vanderbilt senior Kacie Connors has been named the American Lacrosse Conference Offensive Player of the Week for a pair of impressive performances last week.
Connors totaled 11 points in Vanderbilt’s games against New Hampshire and Johns Hopkins. She had three goals and two assists in VU’s loss at New Hampshire Wednesday, then scored four goals and added two more assists as the Commodores defeated ALC rival Johns Hopkins Sunday.
Connors scored the last two goals to ice VU’s 14-11 victory over then-No. 17 Johns Hopkins. She also assisted on the eventual game-winner in that career-high six-point effort, which helped the Commodores to their first league win of the season.
“The Johns Hopkins game was the first time in a long time for our team to put together a full 60 minutes,” VU Head Coach Cathy Swezey said. “We’re extremely excited about Kacie earning attacker of the week honors. Kacie is capable of getting back on defense for us, but she’s been extremely valuable for us in attack not only with the goals and assists she’s put up but also with her ability to handle the ball under pressure.”
This marks the third weekly ALC honor for the Commodores. Senior All-American Ally Carey was named the Offensive Player of the Week on March 12 and senior goalkeeper Natalie Wills earned Defensive Player of the Week honors on Feb. 13.
The Commodores (6-4, 1-2 ALC) will face a non-conference foe tomorrow when Presbyterian makes its first trip to Nashville.

The Blue Hose (1-9) have lost eight straight since a victory over Regis (Colo.) to begin March. Led in scoring by Catherine Ellis’ 27 goals, Presbyterian has had 10 days to prepare for Vanderbilt since a 21-15 loss at Davidson on March 24.
“We know that Presbyterian has struggled somewhat this season, but we have to expect them to bring their best game to us,” Swezey said. “We’ve shown that we’re capable of coming out flat against some opponents and that cannot be the case tomorrow.”
