NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Devin McGlockton notched his second straight double-double in Vanderbilt’s 85-76 victory over Southeast Missouri on Sunday. The forward dropped 14 points and 19 rebounds, becoming the first Commodore since Colin Smith in 2023 to record two consecutive double-doubles.
Jason Edwards led the Dores (2-0) in points with 17 total. Tyler Nickel and A.J. Hoggard both finished in double figures as well with 11 points apiece. Vanderbilt outrebounded SEMO (0-2) 53-32, leading to 22 total second-chance points. The Commodores had 33 points off the bench.
Vanderbilt got off to a slow start in the first half, going down 10 points at the 14-minute mark before a stretch of multiple scoring runs left the Dores in control. The Commodores tied the game off an Edwards’ four-point play and never looked back, taking the lead for good 45 seconds later on a three-point play from Nickel.
Vanderbilt stretched its two-point halftime lead into an 11-point margin out of the gate, but didn’t put the game away until the final minutes of competition on a putback score by McGlockton with two minutes remaining.
BJ Ward led SEMO with 22 points and five assists, sinking 6-of-7 three pointers. Teddy Washington Jr. added 19 and TJ Biel had 12. The Hawks shot 12-of-25 overall from beyond the arc.
Vanderbilt is next in action on Wednesday as the Commodores host California at 7 p.m.
