The Vanderbilt football team spent Saturday afternoon far away from practice field, repairing one of the most popular hiking trails at Nashville’s Radnor Lake State Natural Area.

Virtually every member of the squad participated in the three-hour activity, working with park rangers to improve the subsurface base of heavily-used Lake Trail.

Head Coach Derek Mason joined the players to assist with the restoration project.

The team transported tons of crushed rock from the Otter Creek Road access east of Radnor Lake deep into the park to rehabilitate the Lake Trail. The effort improved nearly one-quarter mile of the 2.5-mile trail.
