NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Vanderbilt swim team heads back out on the road this weekend, traveling down to New Orleans, La. to face the Tulane Green Wave. Coming off last week’s victory over Oregon State, the Dores head into the dual meet with a 1-2 record, hoping to even the record up.
Vanderbilt capped off its west coast tour against USD, landing top-three times in all but one individual race, and coming out on top the 400-medley and freestyle relays.
Last season the Commodores sailed through the Green Wave, defeating the squad in Nashville at a score of 178-109, posting podium finishes in 13 of the meets 14 eligible events.
The Dores swam particularly well in last year’s 200-yard breast event, sweeping the podium against Tulane; with then-freshman Kara Lucenti had a breakout performance earning first place (2:20.01).
Tulane heads into Friday’s competition 3-1, after traveling to Pensacola, Fla. and sweeping a quad meet against UWF, Air Force, and the University of Arkansas – Little Rock. The Green Wave is 0-1 against teams from the SEC this season, falling in their season-opener to LSU 210-86.
The two teams square off inside the Riley Student-Recreation Center Natatorium Saturday at 11:00 am CT.
