Commodores in 10th Place at Inverness Intercollegiate 9/19/2005 TOLEDO, Ohio – Vanderbilt freshman Jon Curran sits in a tie for fourth place after shooting 72 twice and the Commodores are 10th after day one of the Inverness Intercollegiate hosted by the University of Toledo Monday at the notable Inverness Club.Vanderbilt is 11 strokes out of second place after firing a two-round total of 602. Curran made his collegiate debut Monday posted a first day total of 144. Junior Luke List is tied for 13th place after shooting 73 and 74 in his first two rounds of the 2005-06 season. John Ebert (76-76–152), Dos Goldsmith (77-82–159) and Tyler Matthews (81-85–166) round out the group for the Commodores. The University of Southern California leads the tournament. The Trojans lead the 15-team field with a 13-over par 581 (289-292). Texas is in second place with a 23-over par 591 (305-286) after posting the best team score of the day in its second round, one shy of the tournament record held by South Carolina in the inaugural event in 2000. Following the Longhorns in third and fourth place are Coastal Carolina (300-293) at 592 and Florida (298-295) at 593. Individually, USC’s Joshua Wooding (71-70–141) and Taylor Wood (69-73–142) lead the 75-player field and were the only players at par or under in the first two rounds. Rocket sophomore Justin Hull (72-71–143) is in third place and just two strokes out of the lead. The Inverness Club features a 7,255-yard, par-71 course. The Club was founded in 1903 and has hosted four U.S. Opens, one U.S. Amateur, one U.S. Senior Open and two PGA Championships. Vanderbilt wraps up the final round of the tournament Tuesday morning.
