NASHVILLE, TN. –

The Commodores took to the podium multiple times Saturday, but came up short in their dual meet with the Arkansas Razorbacks, falling 133-67 at the Centennial Sportsplex.

Six Vanderbilt swimmers earned top-three finishes to go along with a third place finish for the 400-yard medley relay team.

Junior Johanna Goldblatt and Freshman Hannah Hunt took second place finishes in the 50-yard freestyle sprint and 200-yard breaststroke, respectively. Senior Summer Brown took a third-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle and Sophomore Saleh Peacock found third in the long 1,650-yard freestyle as well.

“We had a great week of practice, but we just weren’t able to roll that into races,” said Head Coach Jeremy Organ. “We did see some good things however, and that’s what we can take into the Houston Invite.”

The Dores’ 400-yard medley relay team continued to perform well, taking another top three finish this season with a third-place effort in their race.

“The [400-yard medley relay team] do a great job of feeding off each other and getting behind each other,” said Assistant Coach Jennifer Cahill. “The more they swim together, the more comfortable they get.”

Two Vanderbilt freshmen continued their class’s streak of podium finishes this season, as Kaley Buchanan took third in the 200-yard IM, and Lauren Bergmann took third in the 200-yard backstroke.

“The freshmen are really starting to get comfortable and settling into their roles,” said Cahill. “They work hard and come ready every day, we’re going to see some great things from them by the end of the season.”

Vanderbilt next travels to Houston, Texas, for a three-day long invite from November 16-18.

“We’re going to continue what we like in practice,” said Organ. “We’ll get a little bit of rest before our mid-season invite, and we’ll work on some of the small details to make sure we’re 100 percent ready to go”.
