NASHVILLE, Tenn.Jordan Matthews was an All-American wide receiver at Vanderbilt from 2010-2013 who concluded his college career as the most prolific pass-catcher in SEC history. Now, the current Philadelphia Eagles star is giving back to his Nashville community.

This Saturday, July 1, Matthews hosts a charity basketball game at Vanderbilt’s Memorial Gym featuring several former Commodore stars. The group of “Vandy Heroes” will take on “Real Heroes of Nashville” on the hardwood, a group comprised of local teachers, police officers and much more. Proceeds help The Matthews Mission Fund serve the community by benefiting the YWCA and MEND Nashville and bringing awareness to the issue of domestic violence in Tennessee. More information can be found here.

The Commodore Insider Podcast caught up with Matthews to discuss his charity event and why spearheading this effort is important to him. Matthews also reflects on his Vanderbilt career, the Commodores’ future under Derek Mason and adjusting to an NFL lifestyle.
