Graduate Assistant - Defense

Ryan Anderson begins his third year as a defensive graduate assistant. 

In Anderson’s first season, the Commodore defense ranked among the NCAA top 25 units in several categories, including total defense and pass defense. 

A former Presbyterian College linebacker, Anderson comes to the Vanderbilt staff after serving at defensive line coach at Reinhardt (Ga.) University. During the 2010-11 campaigns, he worked at Cumberland (Tenn.) University as linebacker coach and recruiting coordinator. 

Anderson’s first coaching role came at E.C. Glass H.S. in Lynchburg, Va., where he mentored linebackers and tight ends in 2009. 

Anderson was a standout linebacker during his career at Presbyterian. He earned a bachelor’s in psychology in 2009. He is working toward a master’s at Vanderbilt’s Peabody College. 

Anderson is married to the former Ashley Cook.
