Mallory Mulzer joined the Vanderbilt cross country and track and field programs as an assistant coach in 2023. The 2023–24 season will be her first with the Commodores.

Achievements at Vanderbilt – Assistant Coach (2023–present)
Track & Field
During the 2024 season, Mulzer guided Julia Rosenberg, who qualified for the NCAA East First Round in the 1,500 meters and broke the school records in the 1,000 and 3,000 meters indoors and 5,000 meters outdoors. She helped coach Emma Curry, Audrey Allman and Rosenberg to achieving a third place finish in the distance medley relay at the SEC Indoor Championships. With Mulzer’s tutelage, Bria Bennis scored at the SEC Championships in her first-ever 10,000-meter race.

Cross Country
In Mulzer’s inaugural season with the Commodores, she helped guide the Vanderbilt women’s cross country to a seventh-place finish at the SEC Championships, its best conference finish in three seasons.

During the regular season, student-athletes Mulzer tutored achieved top-10 finishes at six of seven meets. With her guidance, Jack DesRoches was the top Vanderbilt finisher and top SEC freshman finisher at the Joe Piane Invitational, earning a nod from the SEC and being named the SEC Men’s Freshman Runner of the Week.

Prior to Vanderbilt
At Florida State – Operations Assistant (2022–23)
Before being hired at Vanderbilt, Mulzer served as an operations assistant at Florida State University where she played a large role in the Seminoles’ recruiting efforts, signing a cohort of freshman and transfer student-athletes that included NCAA All-American Rylee Penn, Sydney Nowiki and Georgia state champion Hannah Schemmel.

With Mulzer’s guidance, the Florida State women’s track and field team earned a top-four finish at the ACC Outdoor Championships. Mulzer assisted in coaching All-American Alyson Churchill at the NCAA Outdoor Championships, where she placed 11th in the 5,000 meters.

Personal
As a student-athlete, Mulzer competed at Indiana for five years and at Ohio State for one year as a graduate student. She was a part of the Big Ten Championship team at Ohio State in 2022. While competing for the Hoosiers, she scored multiple times at the Big Ten Championships and advanced to the 2019 NCAA East Regional in the 800 meters. She was also awarded Academic All-Big Ten on several occasions.

Mulzer earned a bachelor’s in public health from Indiana University in 2021 and a master’s certificate in assistive and rehabilitative technology from Ohio State University in 2022.
