Justin Harris, a former Commodore safety, joined the coaching staff in 2023 and currently serves as assistant cornerbacks coach. He spent his first season on the staff as a graduate assistant with the defense.
In 2024, Harris worked alongside corners coach Jamaal Richardson with a group led by sophomore Martel Hight and transfer Kolbey Taylor. Hight paced the cornerbacks with 33 tackles, two interceptions, four break-ups and a forced fumble. He was also an All-SEC selection as a return specialist. Taylor contributed 23 tackles while freshman Jayllin Lackey added 14 stops while playing in all 13 games.
Harris played for Vanderbilt from 2019-22, appearing in 24 career games with two games started. He notched 14 career tackles and a pass break-up, earning a pair of starts as a sophomore. He was an SEC Academic Honor Roll selection as a sophomore.
Born in Gadsen, Alabama, Harris was a three-star prospect out of Etowah (Ala.) High School where he had over 100 career tackles. His father, Eddie Harris, played football at Jacksonville State and Delta State. He graduated from Vanderbilt in 2023 with a degree in economics.
