Baltimore, Md. – Vanderbilt will be represented by three Commodores this weekend as the US Lacrosse Women’s National Team holds its final round of tryouts at UMBC in Catonsville, Md.
Rising seniors Ally Carey and Natalie Wills have been invited to participate in the tryout along with assistant coach Amber Falcone, a three-year veteran of the U.S. squad. Wills was a member of the US Developmental Team during the 2009-10 season.
“This will be the toughest competition I’ve ever faced,” Wills said. “Being on the U.S. team was one of the best experiences I’ve had playing lacrosse. I definitely have more respect for the game now. It was a humbling experience.”
The first round of tryouts took place over Memorial Day weekend in Stony Brook, N.Y., with 78 current and former collegiate players from 30 schools making the cut into this weekend’s final tryout. The 2010-11 roster was filled out with 38 players. The 2011-12 roster is expected to be announced Sunday at the conclusion of the three-day tryout.
