Oren Burks and the 49ers face Detroit in the NFC Championship game

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Former Vanderbilt football player Oren Burks is one win from becoming the 20th Commodore to reach the Super Bowl.

Burks and the San Francisco 49ers host Detroit in the NFC Championship game on Sunday at 5:30 p.m. CT (FOX).

The linebacker had a pair of tackles in the divisional round as the Niners beat Green Bay, 24-21. The contest brought Burks to 46 total tackles on the season, appearing in 15 games. In his career, Burks now has 175 tackles.

With a win, Burks becomes the first Vanderbilt player to make the Super Bowl since Ke’Shawn Vaughn and Tampa Bay Buccaneers defeated Emmanuel Smith and Kansas City in Super Bowl LIV.
