NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Abi Brighton continues to rack up postseason honors after being named United Soccer Coaches Scholar First-Team All-American on Thursday morning.
Brighton becomes the first Commodore to be named both All-American and Scholar All-American in the same year.
The Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, resident is the seventh Dore to earn the honor, joining a list that includes Raegan Kelley, Simone Charley, Kacy Scarpa, Molly Kinsella, Christy Barringer and Stacey Ashworth.
The fifth-year was named second-team All-SEC and first-team United Soccer Coaches All-Region after appearing in 19 matches for the black and gold this season, registering over 1,500 minutes on the pitch and leading Vanderbilt to its first-ever Sweet 16 appearance. Brighton controlled an offense that scored 45 goals, tied for 12th in program history and the most since the 2018 campaign.
The midfielder closed her collegiate career appearing in 93 matches (92 starts) and registering over 7,500 minutes on the pitch. Brighton posted 35 points over her career on 10 goals and 15 assists.
