Brighton, McLaughlin Earn United Soccer Coaches Honor

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Abi Brighton and Hannah McLaughlin earned recognition from the United Soccer Coaches after a historic season. Brighton was named first-team all-region while McLaughlin landed on the fourth team.

Brighton and McLaughlin were key members in Vanderbilt’s first-ever Sweet 16 run this season.

As a fifth-year, Brighton, who was named second-team All-SEC, appeared in 19 matches for the black and gold this season, registering over 1,500 minutes on the pitch. The Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, native posted five points on one goal and three assists.

McLaughlin, who was named first team All-SEC, appeared in 19 matches for the Dores totaling over 1,600 minutes of action. The junior out of Cummings, Georgia, anchored a defense that only allowed 19 goals on the year, no more than three in a single match and recorded nine shutouts.

This marks the first all-region honor for both Brighton and McLaughlin and the first duo to make the list since Raegan Kelley and Maya Antoine in 2022.
