Black and Gold Eye Bounce Back

No. 13 Vanderbilt looks to rebound from Friday loss, hosts No. 11 Georgia, Eastern Kentucky in Sunday doubleheader

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The No. 13 ranked Vanderbilt men’s tennis team eyes a bounce back to close out its alumni weekend with a home doubleheader against No. 11 Georgia and Eastern Kentucky on Sunday at the Lummis Family Tennis Center.

Friday’s loss to No. 3 Texas was the third straight against a conference foe for the Commodores, who will attempt to end that skid against the Bulldogs. It is the first time Vanderbilt (13-6, 4-4 SEC) has dropped consecutive SEC matches since March 29, 2025. The No. 29 duo of senior Nathan Cox and freshman Hoyoung Roh have been a recent highlight for the Dores; the pair currently sit on a four-match win streak, two of which have come against ranked opponents. Hoyoung also has two ranked wins to his name in singles play.

Georgia (13-5, 5-4 SEC) makes the trek to Nashville with a 63-7 advantage in the all-time series against Vanderbilt. The Commodores last netted a win against the Bulldogs in 2014 when the black and gold hosted the SEC Tournament. They have not picked up a regular season win in the matchup since 2003 with head coach Scott Brown competing as a player. Three Bulldogs sit in the ITA singles rankings, led by No. 37 Arda Azkara and No. 38 William Jansen. No. 103 Santiago Giamichelle rounds out Georgia on the singles list. In doubles, Azkara and Giamichelle are the highest-ranked duo at No. 26, and are joined in the rankings by Jansen and Gabriele Vulpitta at No. 75.

Eastern Kentucky (9-12) enters Sunday after ending a three-match skid with a 5-2 win over Northern Kentucky on Wednesday. The Colonels are 1-6 against common opponents with Vanderbilt, including two losses to Georgia and a loss to Auburn. It will be the first-ever dual match between Eastern Kentucky and Vandy in the programs’ history.

First serve between No. 13 Vanderbilt and No. 11 Georgia is set for 1 p.m. with Eastern Kentucky expected to follow at not before 6 p.m. Streaming will be available online with live stats accessible via IonCourt.
