Robert Freeman

Why do you want to be a PA announcer for the Commodores?
I’ve been a lifelong fan of this program and working in/around Commodore Athletic is a dream come true. Few people can bring the passion for Vanderbilt that I have which translates to an authentic gameday experience for fans.

What previous experience makes you most qualified to be a PA announcer for the Commodores?
I’ve spent more than a decade in the radio industry as an on-air personality and play-by-play commentator. Vocal control, multitasking in a press box, and engaging an audience are second nature to me at this point.

DAVE JOSEPH

Why do you want to be a PA announcer for the Commodores?
I bring a different energy level to the game and get both the players and fans fired up. This is a unique opportunity to showcase my vocal talents for the premiere university in the SEC.

What previous experience makes you most qualified to be a PA announcer for the Commodores?
I served as the Public Address Announcer for the Los Angeles Kings for eight seasons, and was awarded a ring after calling the Stanley Cup Championship in 2014. I also called the 2017 NHL All-Star Game at STAPLES Center, the 2021 MLS All-Star Game at Banc of California Stadium, numerous LAFC and LA Galaxy soccer games, UCLA Football at the Rose Bowl and USC Baseball. I also served as the backup PA Announcer for the Dodgers and have appeared on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” on ABC Television.

JOEY SEALS

Why do you want to be a PA announcer for the Commodores?
I grew up in the Nashville area and have followed Vanderbilt Sports most all my life. I graduated from Belmont University and played baseball there and against Vandy. I had several friends that attended and/or played sports at Vanderbilt. Being from Nashville and a huge SEC fan, I have always pulled for Vandy (Except while playing against them at Belmont)! I really enjoy announcing the high school games that I do now and believe I bring an extra bit of excitement to the game/environment! I enjoy it so much that I plan to continue doing those high school games as long as there is no conflict, and Vanderbilt Athletics would take precedence over those high school games. I do not see any conflict arising over football with the Friday night HS games and the mostly Saturday college schedule; however, when baseball season rolls around, the Goodpasture Baseball coach would not be so fortunate.
What previous experience makes you most qualified to be a PA announcer for the Commodores?
I am very knowledgeable about each sport. I played football, basketball, and baseball in high school and have followed them all my life. I was recruited to play football and baseball out of high school and decided to play baseball at Belmont. I was drafted by the Dodgers out of college and played 3 seasons with them until an injury ended my playing career. While Iwas attending Belmont, I announced a couple of seasons of both Men’s & Women’s Basketball. I have always wanted to stay around these 3 sports and announcing has been a great way to do that. I feel that I bring an extra bit of entertainment and excitement to each game’s environment. The following are most of the schools and sports that I have announced.
