NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Intercollegiate Tennis Association released its most updates rankings Tuesday morning, with the duo of senior Gonzales Austin and junior Rhys Johnson leading the country in doubles as the No. 1 team. Vanderbilt (9-2) rose seven spots in the rankings to No. 16.

The tandem began the fall ranked as No. 22, advancing to five, two, and now one. Austin and Johnson currently own an undefeated 7-0 record heading into SEC play, with only two sets dropped in tournament and dual match seasons. Austin and Johnson have amassed several notable wins for the Commodores, including a 6-4, 6-3 win over the then No. 2 team in the country of Ross Guidnon and Tim Kopinski during tournament play.
In singles action Austin dropped down one spot to No. 8 in the polls. The senior currently owns a 10-0 record, half of which were wins over ranked opponents. Austin has collected a total of 97 wins; just two away from tying the all-time singles win record of 99 set by Bobby Reynolds.
The Commodores begin SEC play this weekend as they travel to No. 67 Arkansas Friday and No. 10 Ole Miss Sunday.
