Augenstein on Haskins Award Watch List

Fifth-year senior was finalist for award in 2020

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Vanderbilt’s John Augenstein has been named to the Haskins Award preseason watch list, the Golf Channel announced Thursday.

Every year the Haskins Award honors an outstanding college golfer.

Augenstein, a fifth-year senior, was a Haskins Award finalist earlier this season. The Owensboro, Kentucky, native is fresh off an appearance at the U.S. Open.

A four-time All-SEC selection, Augenstein is the reigning SEC Player of the Year and is scheduled to take part in the Masters Tournament in November. Augenstein has also made the SEC Academic Honor Roll four times during his Vandy career.

Celebrating its 50th year, the Fred Haskins Award has been given to players who have gone on to capture 31 major championships and more than 400 professional tournaments around the world. The Fred Haskins Award is the oldest individual college golf award and the only award to be voted on by players, coaches, golf sports information directors and select golf media.
