Athleticism, competitiveness highlights 2016 signing class

Nov. 18, 2015

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Coach Cathy Swezey once again dipped into the talent-rich Northeast to compile the 2016 signing class.

Seven student-athletes signed national letters of intent to play for the Commodores next year. Three hail from New Jersey, one from New York, one from Maryland, one from Virginia and one from Pennsylvania.

“We are so excited about the signing of the next Vanderbilt lacrosse recruiting class,” Swezey said. “These girls represent the best of the best in their graduating year. Their athleticism and competitive nature will give them the ability to contribute early in their careers. We look forward to their arrival next fall.”

The class features four midfielders, two attackers/midfielders and a goalkeeper. The group features a US Lacrosse High School-American (Emily Mathewson), four players who have won state championships (Mathewson, Avery Hoelting, Madison Foglio and Emily Kalin) and two who have reached state meets in cross country and swimming (Hoelting, cross country; Gwyn Devin, swimming).
