GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Vanderbilt’s Celina Sattelkau added another top-10 finish to her resume as her and the Commodores completed play Tuesday in the Lady Gators’ Invitational.
Sattelkau was 2-over-par during her final round and 3-over-par for the tournament to finish in a tie for eighth place. Earlier this month Sattelkau tied for third at FAU Paradise Invitational.
The German native had two birdies in her first eight holes Tuesday to move to 2-under-par and two shots back of first. Bogeys on her 13th and 14th holes of the day slid the sophomore back into a tie for eighth overall where she finished.
“Really proud of what Celina continues to do,” Vanderbilt head coach Greg Allen said. “Her attitude, energy and positivity is really great for this team.”
As a team, Vandy was 12-over-par Tuesday to end up in 11th with a three-day total of 884 (+44).
Auston Kim (+11) tied for 35th, Jayna Choi (+17) tied for 56th, Tess Davenport (+18) tied for 59th and Morgan Baxendale (+19) tied for 62nd.
“We certainly didn’t have our best this week but we aren’t going to let this finish keep us from striving for what we are capable of doing and the team we want to be,” Allen said. “We need to stay positive and know that our best golf is ahead of us. We will take the good with us moving forward and learn from the bad.”
Florida and Ole Miss were crowned co-champions by each finishing 16-over par. Annabell Fuller of Florida won the individual title with a three-day total of 205 (-5) and was one of only four golfers under par for the event.
Vanderbilt will next return to the course March 1-3 in Columbia, South Carolina at the Gamecock Intercollegiate.
