TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Following the best finish in school history at the Wisconsin Adidas Invitational, where the women’s top runners placed second in the most competitive field in the country, the Vanderbilt women’s cross country B squad and cross country men’s teams placed 29th and 35th at the Pre-Nationals race held in Terre Haute today.
Alan Ash again led the men’s team with a 217th place time of 26:55, continuing his junior season of first-place finishes for his team.
For the women, freshman Amira Joseph paced her Dores with a 49th overall place time of 21:52.
“Very nice race by Amira today,” said head coach Steve Keith. “Top 50 in this field and 21:52 on this course is a real quality effort, especially for a freshman.”
The teams competed against 300 other runners in the second-largest race of the weekend.
The team regroups to rest and train for the SEC Championships in two weeks in Knoxville, Tenn.
