NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Erin McManus (Churchill High School, Potomac, Md.) has signed a National Letter of Intent with the Vanderbilt women’s cross country program, head coach Steve Keith announced. McManus becomes the fourth distance runner to sign with the Commodores in 2008.
McManus hails from the same high school as Louise Hannallah, who also committed to the Black and Gold in 2008. McManus placed eighth at the Maryland State Cross Country Championships and recorded personal bests of 2:17 for 800, 11:32 for 3200 and 18:43 for 5k cross country.
“We are extremely excited to add Erin McManus to our fall recruiting class of 2008,” remarked Keith. “I like Erin’s range and we will look for her to contribute in everything from the 800 up through cross country.”
McManus plans to major in Mechanical Engineering.
“We are equally excited about Erin as a student and I know she was thrilled to receive academic scholarship assistance from the Engineering Department,” Keith added. “Not shy of a challenge, I am certain that Erin will excell at her studies as well as her running.”
Other members of the 2008 signing class include Hannallah, Alexa Rogers of Dakota Ridge High School in Littleton, Colo., and Jordan White of Academy of the Holy Names in Albany, N.Y.
