Collegiate golf coaches have noticed Vanderbilt’s strong start to the 2018-19 season, as the Commodores have jumped 22 spots to No. 3 in the latest Women’s Golf Coaches Association rankings.
Vanderbilt began its season with a second-place finish at the Powerade Cougar Classic in Charleston, S.C. and a team championship at its own Mason Rudolph Championship. Both tournaments featured some of the best women’s collegiate golf teams in the nation.
In the Golfweek poll, the other major women’s collegiate golf rankings, the Commodores are ranked No. 2 nationally. Meanwhile, three players, junior Abbey Carlson, freshman Auston Kim, and senior Courtney Zeng, are ranked in the top 25. Carlson is ranked fifth, Kim 14th, and Zeng 23rd nationally.
Vanderbilt returns to the course October 12-14 at the Ruth’s Chris Tar Heel Invitational in Chapel Hill, N.C.
