Notebook: Music City Classic

Vanderbilt concludes its regular season Friday through Sunday, hosting the Columbia 300 Music City Classic at the Smyrna Bowling Center in nearby Smyrna, Tenn.  There is no admission charge to fans wanting to attend the tournament.
 
 About the tournament 
 
This is the 15th annual Columbia 300 Music City Classic, typically one of the largest tournaments on the collegiate circuit.  The defending champion is McKendree, which defeated Sam Houston in last year’s title match.  Saint Francis University’s Sarah Littleton was the MVP.  Host Vanderbilt has won the event just four times – 2009, 2010, 2014 and 2015.

Friday:             9:30 CT     begins five, 5-Game Baker matches.
Saturday:         9:30 a.m.   five traditional games
Sunday:            8:10 a.m.   three rounds of best four of seven Baker games
 
Daily warm-ups are 30 minutes prior these times.
 
Following the tournament  
 
Vanderbilt live streams its matches over its YouTube page (and on occasion, Facebook Live). Results are posted on VandyBowling Facebook and Twitter accounts and a daily recap will appear on this web site.
 
Last time out
 
The Commodores have bowled well this year and especially since the start of the second semester.  Currently they have won four tournaments on the year including their last two at the SFA’s LadyJack and  Monmouth’s Hawk Flight. 
 
Vandy’s Dress squad

 The Commodores will have 10 student-athletes suited up for the tournament:  Braeden Abrahamsen, Maria Bulanova, Angelique Dalesandro, Samantha Gainor, Bryanna Leyen, Jordan Newham, Lauren Potechin, Kristin Quah, Emily Rigney, Adel Wahner.  Freshman Liz Ross is redshirting this year and won’t be in uniform.

 Vandy Bowlers qualify for ISC

Three Vanderbilt bowlers qualified late last week for the USBC Intercollegiate Singles Championship, to be held in Dayton, Ohio, April 17-20.  Maria Bulanova won the qualifier at the Smyrna Lanes in a field of 165 while Jordan Newham was third and Adel Wahner placed fifth.
