Despite a fall campaign that saw some significant highlights, Vanderbilt slipped from first to third in the latest poll of collegiate bowling coaches.
The National Ten Pin Coaches Association’s (NTCA) December poll saw McKendree receive 35 of the 45 first-place votes to lead second-place Nebraska and the Commodores, who had been No. 1 in the preseason poll. All three schools have impressive credentials.
McKendree posted a 29-9 fall record and had a 10-1 record against Top-10 schools. The Bearcats won the Kat Klash and Warhawk tournaments. Nebraska has a 30-8 mark, was also 10-1 versus Top-10 opposition and won the Bearcat Open. In the preseason poll, the order had been Vanderbilt, McKendree and Nebraska.
Vanderbilt compiled a 25-12 record over its first three tournaments, finishing second at McKendree, fourth at the Warhawk and winning the Hawk Classic.
The Commodores resume their season after the winter break at Arkansas State’s Mid-Winter Classic from Jan. 11-13.
