NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Vanderbilt fell short in its first SEC home game of the season, dropping an up-and-down contest to Georgia, 71-64, on Sunday at Memorial Gymnasium.

First Quarter: Georgia 15, Vanderbilt 10
-The Lady Bulldogs netted a quick five points to open play and held Vanderbilt scoreless for over three minutes.
-Autumn Newby scored back-to-back to bring the Dores within one, 5-4.
-Georgia scored the next five and maintained the lead through the end of the quarter on 42.9 percent shooting.
 
Second Quarter: Vanderbilt 28, Georgia 27
-Vanderbilt rattled off the first six points of the second quarter to go ahead 16-15.
-It was a lot of back-and-forth down the stretch, but the Dores came out ahead at the half after a Mariella Fasoula jumper, 28-27.
 
Third Quarter: Vanderbilt 43, Georgia 43
-The Bulldogs quickly scored 10 unanswered points in the third to go ahead, 37-32.
-Vanderbilt responded with a 9-2 run that ended on a trey from Kaleigh Clemons-Green from the right wing to put the Dores ahead 41-39.
-The squads exchanged points to close the quarter knotted at 43.
 
Fourth Quarter: Georgia 71, Vanderbilt 64
-The squads were neck-and-neck throughout the majority of the fourth quarter, but the Bulldogs outscored Vanderbilt 10-to-5 over the final 1:04 to set the final score.
 
Inside the Lane
-Vanderbilt edged the Bulldogs from the field, 48.1 percent to 40.4 percent.
-Georgia won the battle from beyond the arc, shooting 54.5 percent while holding the Dores to just 25 percent.
-The Lady Bulldogs out-rebounded Vanderbilt, 33-to-31.
-Vanderbilt shot just 55 percent from the free throw line.
-Gabby Connally put up a game-high 29 puts for the Bulldogs.
-Newby tallied 18 points on 8-of-10 shooting.
-Fasoula has scored in double-digits for 10 consecutive games and collected her eighth 20+ point game.
