Women’s Golf Tied for 7th at Stanford 10/22/2005 The Vanderbilt women’s golf team is in seventh place at the Stanford Pepsi Intercollegiate heading into Sunday’s final round after firing a second-round total of 283 on Saturday. With a two-day total of 591, 23-over-par, the team is five strokes ahead of host Stanford and Arizona State, who are tied for 8th with 596. Saturday’s total was a 13-stroke improvement off of the first-round 302 that helped the Commodores move up from 12th place. The tournament lead is held by Duke, who at 563 is 5-under-par as a team. The Commodores trail them by 28 strokes, but they are only seven strokes out of the top five, behind UCLA’s 582 and Washington’s 589. Pacing the way for the Commodores today was sophomore Liebelei Lawrence’s even-par 72. Lawrence’s two-day-total of 145 is tied with junior Chris Brady, who shot a 1-over 72 today, for the team lead. The pair are each tied for 13th place in tournament. Two Commodore freshmen weren’t far behind their leaders as Amber Lundskog and Jaqui Concolino each fired a 2-over 73. Lundskog, with a 149-total is tied for 5th place, while Concolino’s 15 puts her tied for 58th. Rounding out the VU scoring was junior Kristen Svicarovich, who shot a 76 today and is tied for 68th with a 155 two-day score. Fin. School Scores |
