Women’s Golf Team Seventh at Stanford 10/19/2003 Vanderbilt slipped two places on the final day of play at the Stanford/Pepsi Intercollegiate Women’s Golf Tournament Sunday and finished in seventh place. The Commodores shot their tournament high round of 302 to finish at 17-over par. Duke won the tournament, shooting a team 19-under par, to beat Washington by five shots in the 18-team field. Sarah Jacobs led Vanderbilt, placing in a tie for 11th position. Jacobs had early rounds of 70-73 and even par 72 Sunday to finish her tournament at 1-under. Courtney Wood was the Commodores’ next best finisher, shooting 77 Sunday to finish at plus-five and in a tie for 30th. May Wood also shot 77 to finish a stroke behind Courtney Wood while freshmen Kristen Svicarovich had a 76 and Chris Brady had an 80.Complete results at gostanford.com Day 1Vanderbilt’s women’s golf team was tied for fifth after the first 18 holes of the Stanford/Pepsi Intercollegiate Tournament in Palo Alto, Calif. Friday. The Commodores shot two-over par 290 to trail Washington, which enjoyed an eight-under 280. Duke, UCLA and California along with Vanderbilt tied with New Mexico round out the top five places. Eighteen teams are competing. Nashvillian Sarah Jacobs led Vanderbilt’s team with a steady 35-35-70, two-under par. Courtney Wood of Brentwood was one behind after shooting 71. May Wood added a 74 and freshman Kristen Svicarovich had one of her better collegiate days with a 75. Chris Brady completed the VU golfers, shooting 77 for the day.
