Two of the nation’s finest high school golfers, one from the west coast and one from the east, have signed the national letter of intent to attend Vanderbilt University according to women’s golf coach Martha Richards Freitag.

Jacqui Concolino of Orlando, Fla., and Amber Lundskog of San Diego, Calif., selected Vanderbilt after celebrated prep careers.

Lundskog, who attended Scripps Ranch High School, was the 2003 San Diego Junior Golf Association’s Female Player of the Year.  She was also the 2002-03 IJGT Girls Overall Player of the Year.

Lundskog won the 2004 AJGA Memorial Junior Championship and tied for fourth at the Rolex Junior Girls’ Championship.  She won the 15-16 age division of the Joanne Winter Silver Belle Classic in 2003 and the IJGT at Kierland in April of 2003.

Concolino, who prepped at Bishop Moore High in Orlando, was the 2004 Florida Junior Player of the Year, winning the Bubba Conlee National Junior in June of 2004.

Concolino was a finalist in July of 2003 at the USGA Girls’ Championship Match Play and captured the AJGA Nike Junior All-Star in May of 2003.

The two signees will join a young Commodore team next year and are expected to help propel Vanderbilt into title contention.

“We’re very excited to have Jacqui and Amber,” Coach Freitag says.  “They are both Top 10 players from the Class of 2005. They are a huge addition to our program. Both have the ability to take it deep. We definitely look forward to getting them on campus and continue helping us win championships.”
